Yes, Bulldozer fell short of expectations. Any AMD fan can attest to this. However in the big scope of things, it is not a slow processor. It was just not the step up from Phenom II that AMD needed. Here is a clock for clock comparison review I found.
One of the best valued AMD chips has stopped shipping to retailers and etailers. Phenom II covered the whole performance spectrum at a low cost and allowed for major tweaking on all fronts. Core unlocking, and overclocking allowed the budget user to turn cheap CPU’s into real performers.
Tonight I ripped apart my laptop. This is a procedure I have done many times…not without pains.
I was hesitant to take apart this unit at first, but the processor temperatures were becoming a problem. I wanted to lower my temps. So I took the dive and took apart my HP g6 in order to put better thermal compound on the CPU.
I am known for disappearing from the internet, and not posting on my blog for long periods of time. The cause of this: first year university.
One of my classes, involves basic level C++ programming. I am absolutely captivated by something I used to avoid. I always though of myself as a hardware guy, but programming is a growing interest.
Congrats to AMD, Simon Solotko, Chew*, Macci & Schradin!
I am absolutely loving my new llano laptop. The desktop feel is very smooth and quick, quicker than most laptops I have used recently.
AMD hosted a fantastic event for the prime purpose of overclocking the Phenom II’s to the utter limits.
Records were shattered, the liquid helium and nitrogen kept flowing, overclockers worked around the clock, camera’s flashed and filmed, and processors and motherboards were killed in the process.
I wish I knew. Don’t we all?
WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE | WE HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOU | LEADERS IDENTIFIED | FORUMS INFILTRATED | FOLLOWING OUR PREDECESSORS | INSERTING OURSELVES INTO YOUR SYSTEMS | WE HAVE COME FROM THE FUTURE | EXPERIMENTAL | OUT OF SPEC | ONE HUNDRED OF US | EMERGING FROM THE DARKNESS OF OUR TELEPORT CONTAINERS | SENT TO ACCELERATE OUR RISE
Sad to say that this chip did not actually work after
I was asked to explain what “leakage” was and how it can be a positive thing on the Phenom II’s. I am just learning about this stuff as well, so I have put it into an easy to understand summary. Enjoy
Hey guys, I’d like to share with you an excellent video summarizing the past few months of achievements that AMD has had with Phenom II. As many of you may know, I was involved in the Austin, Texas event.
An avid overclocker and tinkerer eventually runs out of uses for his computational power. Six cores and a powerful GPU demand to show off every once and awhile. Welcome to the world of folding!
-I’ve baked 3 graphics cards
-Killed a x1300 hard modding it… etc
